Most of these photographs were captured at Perth Zoo and every single one is unique in it's very own way, animals are such beautiful, amazing creatures no matter what type.

The inland bearded dragon has spikey scales around it's lower jaw which gives it the 'bearded' look. The scales aren't actually spikey though, they are rubbery and flexible. Taken at Perth Zoo.

These type of dragons can be a variety of colours ranging from red,brown to yellow to match the colour of the soil in their habitat. Scientific Name- Pogona vitticeps. Taken at Perth Zoo.

There are six species of blue-tongued lizards or skinks in Australia. They vary a bit in colour and size, but most commonly they are grey with broad brown stripes across their back and tail, and they grow to around a foot in length (that's just the head and body, not the tail). Taken at Perth Zoo.

The Komodo Dragon is the largest lizard in the world today,It has sharp claws which it uses to attack it's prey, dig resting holes and fight other lizards. It's scales are dark grey-brown,although the Komodo Dragon cannot hear very well, it's ears are visible. Its tail is as long as it's body. Scientific name-Varanus komodoensis. Taken at Perth Zoo.

Blue penguins or also known as little penguins. They are the smallest of all penguins and the only species to live permanently in Australian waters. They have streamlined bodies,small wings which are modified as flippers and a tail that acts as a rudder and that's how they swim through the water.

The blue penguins feathers provide them with excellent waterproofing and insulation. They have a grey face, dark blue back, and white chest and abdomen. Their feet are dull yellow and they have a black bill. They weigh between 1-1.2kg and their body length is between 37-43cm. Scientific Name-Eudyptula minor novaehollandiae. Taken at Perth Zoo.

These are the same as little penguins except this cute little guy is brown and more fluffier looking with a black pointed bill. Taken at Perth Zoo.

The Red-eared Slider has a distinctive red stripe behind each ear, which fades with age. It has pale yellow stripes on it's head and front legs. Males have long claws on their front feet. Sliders have a dark green oval shell and exactly 12 scales on their under-shell with large dark patches on each one. They were brought into Australia illegally they are actually American. Scientific name-Trachemys scripta elegans. Taken at Perth Zoo.

Galapagos Tortoises are the largest tortoises in the world. They are commonly split into two groups depending on the shape of their shell or ‘carapace’. The saddle-back carapace has a curved shell front which allows the tortoise’s neck to extend and reach food in higher places. Scientific name - Chelonoidis nigra Taken at Perth Zoo.
Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened.

Orangutang have a coarse, shaggy reddish coat. Males look very different to females. An adult male is larger and has a throat pouch and flanges (cheek pads) on either side of it's face. Orangutang have very long arms that can stretch as far as 2.6 m. Their hands and feet are used for grasping. Taken at Perth Zoo.

Although quiet most of the time, adult males can fill their massive throat pouch with air to issue a booming 'hoo' call. Scientific name-Pongo abelii. Taken at Perth Zoo.

The African Painted Dog has long legs and a lean body, a relatively small head, large ears, and a short broad muzzle.They hunt like an elite S.W.A.T. team but give the young and frail first crack at their kill. Scientific name-Lycaon pictus. Taken at Perth Zoo.

It's coat varies in pattern and is a mixture of black, grey, yellow and white—hence the name. The African Painted Dog has a tail 31–41 cm long with a white tip. Taken at Perth Zoo.

The Spotted Hyaena has a spotted coat and is the largest of the three hyaena species.Hyaenas are biologically closer to cats but behaviourally closer to dogs. In fact…they’re neither. Scientific name -Crocuta crocuta. Taken at Perth Zoo.

The hyaena has a large head, large ears, long front legs and shorter back legs with a back that slopes down from the shoulder to the tail. It can be difficult to distinguish the females from the males. Females are also larger than the males. Taken at Perth Zoo.

The Slender-tailed Meerkat’s coat is a light silvery-brown colour with dark stripes on it's back. The eyes are ringed with dark fur. Scientific name-Suricata suricatta. Taken at Perth Zoo.

The meerkat has a tail that is 17–25 cm long with a dark tip on the end. It's long front claws are used for digging burrows and finding food. Taken at Perth Zoo.

The upper-side is creamy white with black tips on the forewings. Females also have two black spots in the centre of the forewings. It's underwings are yellowish with black speckles. Taken at Kings Park.
